I was born in Klosterneuburg, Austria,
on May 3rd 1980.
I received my
degree in Mathematics from the University of Vienna in April 2004. Since April 2005 I have been working as research assistant at LTS2 at EPFL in the group of Prof. Pierre Vandergheynst.

From the 18th of May on I'm on holiday and then on leave from EPFL.
For all scientific matters address yourself to Pierre Vandergheynst. For all unscientific matters you can still address yourself to me at the EPFL email address for a while. If you desperately want to discuss science with me, you'll have to be patient until 2010 when I'll probably resurface in the scientific world at RICAM (Austria).

| .:: [April09] SPARS09 in Saint Malo (slides), easter of sleeping, reading, eating and too many trains but at lot less cold than last year |
| .:: [March09] friday 13th public defence (slides) => i'm officially doctor and ready to prescribe prozac, started the post-doctoral period with finally getting sleep, weather is sunny for a change :D, last efforts to finish the dictionary learning paper |
.:: [February09] boring first 3 weeks making slides and waiting, then private defence (slides) - passed!!!, then hyperstressed week with Remi working and fixing small bug in the thesis |
| .:: [January09] negotiated a peace with chapter 6 and finished chapter 7 over christmas, now waiting for corrections to hand in the thesis on the 19th |
| .:: [December08] still fighting chapter 6, keep improving the algorithm and getting worse results, still vomiting a lot |
| .:: [November08] finished chapters 2-5, but then chapter 6 aka the nightmare paper aka the classification paper aka the monstrous dragon woke up again and im fighting hard to kill it, a lot of vomiting in the spare time |
| .:: [October08] wow, I started writing my thesis, meaning i'm writing the paper with remi and doing double the amount of internet surfing |
| .:: [September08] back to work, solved the probability issues for the basis identification :D, classification continues to be a nightmare |
| .:: [August08] 2 weeks suicide heat mountain cycling camping in Albania, Italian train stolen passport retrieval in Austria, AIM workshop on Finite Frames in Palo Alto, more survival holidays at the burning man festival |
| .:: [July08] during writing up realised how much info is still missing and that i should start writing the thesis soon => nervous breakdown, epfl-phobia, working at home, but found the missing info :D, off to Albania |
| .:: [June08] started to write up classification using the hbba, apply it to speech (doesnt work), and extend it to make the paper more complete, very proud of the introduction (link later), over the identity crisis => enjoying stupid invented problems |
| .:: [May08] found the theoretical bug that made the huge big bastard algorithm not work, promising results, then 2 weeks at IRISA (Rennes), less productive than last year but better weather and more fun |
| .:: [April08] boris is back, so no excuse not to implement the huge big bastard algorithm for classification anymore, dico learning postponed to may |
| .:: [March08] got over the psychology obsession, but not really back into work mode, identity crisis because of trying to solve stupid invented problems while there is a world full of real ones, still enjoyed ISCCSP (talk) in malta and very cold easter cycling 5terre |
| .:: [February08] estimated some probabilities for the dictionary learning stuff, then got depressed and obsessed with psychology |
| .:: [January08] wrote up the single feature classification stuff for ISCCSP08 - stress& madness but also inspiration for the multifeature stuff, solved the 2 minimisation problems but scared to combine them into this huge fat bastard algorithm, oh and Remi sucked me back into dictionary learning aaahahhahh |
| .:: [December07] ok got the database, loads of models and corresponding algorithms, results are promising but despite hard effort not really improving, this classification stuff is growing over my head, need holidays!!! |
.:: [November07] first journal paper published :D, the one with the best notation ever, Average Performance Analysis for Thresholding (pdf), extended the model for the classification business |
| .:: [October07] looking for a bigger database and trying to write the classification stuff up, despite extensive googling the wheel suspicion remains, also busy inventing exercises :S |

| .:: [August07] i'm dabbling in classification and playing with real data - dirty but exiting, and Gilles Hennenfent might motivate me to go back to dictionary learning - kind of - but before another short holiday - sardegna in bici |
